Victoria in Our Midst Scholarship

In 2010, a St. Paul scholarship fund was created for the glory of God and in memory of Victoria Jackson.

Called the Victoria in our Midst Fund, scholarships are available to children, youth and adults, both those that worship at St. Paul and also people in the community who do not have church connections.

Scholarships will be given for camp, mission trips, training events, retreats, and other experiences that help form faith in Christ and send God’s people to serve and proclaim the Gospel.  Click to download a Scholarship Request Form.

Scholarship requests may be submitted to the St. Paul staff and church council members.  Scholarships will be awarded at the discretion of the staff with consultation of the church council.  Scholarships will be awarded for both St. Paul-sponsored events and other Christian organizations.

After an individual or group returns from their event, they are to share their experience by means of a display, a newsletter article, a temple talk during worship, or a presentation.  This builds awareness of the fund, shares the Good News of Jesus, and helps the participant(s) to process their experience.

The Victoria in Our Midst fund is open to receive new contributions to replenish the fund.

Victoria Jackson was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.  She died in a car accident on December 30, 2009, just 3 weeks before her 17th birthday.

Victoria was baptized at Bethany Lutheran Church in Akron on February 28, 1993.  She came to St. Paul in 1997, after her family moved to Sharon Center.  She affirmed her faith in 2008.  In 2003, she attended church camp at Mowana.  She served in the church as an acolyte, and she sang in the youth choir.  She attended the Northeast Ohio Lutheran Youth Organization gathering for 3 years.  In 2009, she attended the National Youth gathering in New Orleans.

Victoria was always willing to share her faith in Christ with others.  She is dearly missed.
